How to prep for your 2024 hiring
30th November 2023
We’re so grateful to be celebrating our two-year anniversary here at Apsida, it feels like it was only yesterday that we hit our one-year milestone. So much has changed in the last 12 months for us, the most notable being granted a vaccine and a return to some form of normality!
We wanted to share an update on what has changed for us, both internally and externally, as well as our plans for the rest of this year and the beginning of 2022.
Internally, we’ve had a lot of exciting changes, the most notable being our growth in headcount. We have grown from 3 co-founders in 2020 to 18 permanent staff to date, with 8 of these hires starting with us this year. We are looking to hire 7 more individuals by the end of the year, which will put us at a headcount of 25 as we come in 2022.
We have deliberately focused on sustainable growth at Apsida, as it was crucial for us to offer the right training and development for each consultant before looking to expand.
Our retention rate sits at 95% since inception, and although we understand that long-term growth naturally will affect this, we are committed to investing time and resources into each employee, so they are incentivised to progress their careers with us.
Our headcount growth was also coupled up with a number of promotions, the most notable being three of our Senior Consultants now having the opportunity to grow their teams as Business Managers.
Last year we emphasised that we wanted to focus on an inclusive, dynamic and exciting environment, and with restrictions being lifted, we’ve been fortunate enough to spend a lot more time in the office, from watching the World Cup through to celebratory team days.
This has positively impacted our company culture and has given new starters the opportunity to mingle with one another, whilst also finding a method of working that complements them both professionally and personally.
From an external perspective, we’ve invested a lot more time into business development in the USA, and will continue to evolve our partnerships into 2022. A strategic move we made was hiring Antonia Heater, who is our permanent Research Analyst.
Having worked with Antonia on a freelance basis for the last 10 months, we identified how unique her skill set was, and we were eager to bring her on board full time to add to our service offerings.
She works as an extension of our sales team, heavily focused on research. This research is used to identify market trends, highlight emerging businesses in our sector and carry out competitor analysis for our clients.
We knew that this would be an invaluable asset to Apsida, as research teams are typically found in larger agencies or established Executive Search functions. This gives us an opportunity to provide a premium and bespoke service for each client, and Antonia’s skill set alongside our “classic” offerings will continue to elevate what we do as we grow.
Finally, we’d like to extend our regular thanks to all our candidates and clients who we have had the pleasure of speaking to and working with over these last 12 months. Our team is the strongest it’s ever been, and we are grateful to have an organisation that is purpose-led and passionate about the Life Sciences sector.
